Animal Science Careers

shutterstock_71431996Students graduating with a degree in animal science pursue a myriad of careers, working in a wide range of fields and with a wide range of animal species. There are opportunities for graduates with an animal science degree at all levels of education. Graduates with a degree or certificate in Animal Science may find themselves employed in one of more than 500 different job classifications, including teaching and education, research and discovery, business and industry, governmental and international agencies, sales and service, private corporations, and family farms and ranches.

Many graduates with an animal science degree pursue traditional fields of employment, such as feed manufacturing, animal breeding, meat packing, pharmaceuticals, higher education, extension services, and private consulting. Others use their degree as a gateway to an unlimited number of possibilities by combining their knowledge of animals and science with technological knowledge in other fields of endeavor.
